8-Bit Microcontrollers

These microcontrollers have built-in SRAM and flash memory built into the chip and are programmed through special interface ports that write the program to the flash memory.  Depending on the variant, there may or may not be hardware support for floating point arithmetic, requiring such math to be implemented in software.  Hardware floating point support (if present), will only be for IEEE 754 single-precision floating point.  The ALU will have a clock multiplier in order to be able to do all operations in a single clock cycle.
